eNameChange is designed to help newlyweds and others change their name.  After paying a membership fee of $24.95, you will become a member and have access to eNameChange Member Services for as long as you need them.  To complete the name change process you will need appropriate proof of name change (Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree or Court Order), however, you may start using the service before you receive this documentation.  The service will guide you through the following name changing steps:

  

  • Step 1:  Input Your Identification Information. Our comprehensive online input form contains the information needed to complete name-change documents.  Our Input Form reduces the need to input the same information over and over again.  In addition, your information will be confidentially stored for as long as you need it - so you can start now and finish later!  You are not required to fill out the entire Input Form, as all fields are optional for eNameChange.  However, if you leave some fields blank, you must remember to fill them in by hand later.  You may also print blank forms and fill in all the documents by hand if you so desire.

  • Step 2:  Download Forms and Print.  Once you submit the Input Form, the eNameChange Auto-Fill engine automatically fills out all major name-change documents.  You may then download them with a click of the mouse and print them on your printer.  The forms we provide include:

    • Social Security Administration

    • Department of Motor Vehicles - license, registration, and vehicle title. Check for the availability of your state.

    • Voter Registration

    • Passport Agency

    • General Notification Letters - for banks, utilities, insurance, etc.

  • Step 3:  Use the Filing Instructions to File the Forms.  

    We provide step-by-step instructions on how to file all of the forms.  We'll give you helpful tips such as where to send each form, what types of identification is necessary to file each form and the optimal filing order.  We'll also tell you what you need to do to notify the IRS and the easiest way to change your name on your credit cards.  Other useful tips include how to merge accounts with your spouse at major US financial institutions.

         

    System Requirements
    In order to fully benefit from our service, you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded from our Member Services section.  Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free software.  We recommend Acrobat 4.0.  If you have Acrobat 3.0, you may need to make some setup changes.  These are described in detail in the Help page of the Member Services section.  You should also have access to a printer and paper (including legal-size paper for New York).

    Driver's License and Vehicle Registration Availability

    Most of the forms and instructions provided on our site are NOT state specific. However, procedures to change your name on your driver's license and vehicle registration are unique to each state.  We are constantly adding forms and instructions for more states to our service.  Currently we provide driver's license and vehicle registration forms (where applicable) and complete instructions for the states, IN BLACK, listed below.
